It's about 85 miles, pretty easy dirt road riding for the most part, some areas can get slicker than snot in the wet. The two road blocks and the washout are all ridable, but I walk them when I'm riding alone. There's also a number of ways to add more dirt to the loop and make it more interesting, this map is what I did last weekend (except for where it connects to my house).

Thanks!  Do you have a gpx file?  Hard to plot what you have above into my Zumo. 🙂

I'll have to pull it off my Zumo. Will try and remember to do it after work.

I ballsed up, I hit bolder and dropped the T7 during a water crossing in Iceland brrr.

Luckly I made it across far enough to the shallower bit in the middle before I highsided over the bike.

Soaked but I didn’t drown the engine.

With gravel under foot I could not lift the bike up on my own.

4 very cool nice Canadians in two 4x4 campers saved me 👍

Good to read you and the bike came out unharmed!

That would have me freaking out if I was on my own.

@Hollybrook some more images from the Shenandoah National Forest.

Shameless plug for the Washington Area Trail Riders Shenandoah 500 weekend 5/6 Oct, Virginia USA.  Both  dual sport and adv options for the weekend.

Natural Chimneys Campground is the base for the weekend.  Lunch catered on the trail both Saturday and Sunday by a volunteer fire service and a local community group.  100% of ticket revenue goes to staging the event and to the to groups who provide the lunches.

Do something for yourself (the riding) and these two community organisations.

Just to add to what @TenereTragic700 said about the Shenandoah 500 event, I have ridden on many of the trails being used for this year's event and they are great fun!

We were pre-running the ADV trails and there was a nice variety of beautiful paved roads, gravel roads and two track. I have to admit to riding faster at places on the gravel than we did on the paved roads. There were some fun places to wheelie and jump if you wanted to. I had a blast!

More foundational skills practice today in a fellow riders field.  This whole concept of actually practicing once in awhile versus just going out for a ride is kind of fun! 🙂

Is that one of those adv nova meet ups?

I wish there was an "adv" equivalent to MX tracks to practice on. It's really cool to see something like this have so much turnout.

It sure is.

I agree about the ADV practice ranges. I have a small one in my yard but it's pretty boring and I'm by myself so I rarely use it unless testing something new about the bike. Hitting up a new place and new challenges with others is more fun and safer to experiment with pushing the limits.  That should extend what I can confidently handle when out exploring solo and make a few decisions a bit less sketchy, hopefully... LOL

Yeah other people can both come up with crazier stuff and can more easily help out!

We left there right before they started hosting stuff. Bummed I never made it to one but really cool to see how many people are there.

Situations like that is why I keep a "For Sale" sign under the seat on the bike.   I don't think I could unstick that even with my 5-1 pulley set up (that I rarely actually carry)

It was my first time there. I stopped by Erics place last year at to assist him with a tire change but hadn't gotten back out to ride.

The YOLO guy with the tree was Gandalf. He rolled up on a horse, found that staff, and had us throw rocks down in front of the front wheel. He hammered them down with the tree under the wheel, and that's what really lifted it out. Valuable recovery lesson learned.

They still stuck a metal bar through the wheel and four guys lifted the front end up. Despite all the help, that was about a two hour ordeal.

And yeah, as was repetitively pointed out, this could have been avoided had I gone left instead of right!
