Bike was ready for a ride and so was I.

All turned to crap later in the day when I decided to take a little used fire trail.

There was a tree down and I thought I was 26 and not 62 ( dyslexic ?? )

I built a little ramp over the fallen tree.

Aim and gas on 🥳!

As the back wheel came over it spun to the right and slammed me to the ground.

$%&^! I was well and truly pinned under the bike.

The back wheel was stuck under the fallen tree and wedged by another branch with me jammed in for the mix.

An hour later I had extricated myself and cut through several arm sided branches with a Leatherman.

Lounge day today as my right knee is very tender.

Bike undamaged!

Glad you got yourself out!  I guy I have ridden with occasionally shot me a text out of the blue a week ago asking if I was busy or if  I could help him out of a jam.

Long story short - He didn't have enough cell service to make a call but luckily could text. He was on up on a remote mountain top riding single track and had dumped his Tuareg off the downhill side of the trail.  He could not get his bike back onto the trail by himself.  He texted me his coordinates and I jumped on my bike, road the 80 miles to where he was stranded up on the mountain and we got his bike back onto the trail and rode out.  I love riding solo in remote areas and do a bunch of it, but it can be mighty unforgiving of mistakes.

When your short and ride around the Rocky Mountains this becomes routine maintenance.

This was my turn around point on the optional quad trail in a local rally we rode. Between the mud and bouncing off rocks, I was spent. I need to work on my low speed suspension settings...

It will still be a big pig. My ktm buddies called my wr450 the big blue pig. Now they want to ride the adventure bike on the same trails…kept my enduro for that.

Yeah improving my physical efficiency has been my overarching goal, specifically because of this.

Nice, where in VA was the course run?

Also jealous of that natural color tank. They were out of stock when I got the sun-absorbing black.

This one was near Beverly WV. He did one here in VA last weekend but this one in WV was closer to me.  I picked up a bunch of great  techniques to improve bike control, or in other words ways to not piss the bike off.  One of my nemeses has always been steep sidehills and I have always sucked at them.  When he showed us the wet grass hill with no trail cut that he wanted us to run sideways on I had visions of dying, but with the skills he had us working on earlier in the day combined with a demonstration and explanation of how to tackle it I found myself  practically giggling in my helmet after the first of several passes when I realized I wasn't gonna die.  Hahaha.

Got lucky with the tank. Fellow posted up he was selling it and I jumped on it.

Where is this? I live on Vancouver Island and occasionally take the Port Angeles ferry to WA.  I would love to do that loop. 🙂

It's about 85 miles, pretty easy dirt road riding for the most part, some areas can get slicker than snot in the wet. The two road blocks and the washout are all ridable, but I walk them when I'm riding alone. There's also a number of ways to add more dirt to the loop and make it more interesting, this map is what I did last weekend (except for where it connects to my house).
