I washed my Tenere after a holiday trip and treated myself a coffee and a stroopwafel (=dutch cookie).

That Stroopwafel looks like it's defective,  appears to have a small nibble gone. Better forward to me for evaluation!

I only posted about it in my maintenance/build thread, but I added the HP Corse SP1 high exhaust.

I fitted my Mosko Moto R80 to the Tenere. It looks awesome and so does it feel. High quality! I can't wait to try it out on the first big trip with it in 3 weeks. Still waiting on some more parts to arrive but we're getting there.

Replaced my Rally Raid axle spanner for this one:

Multitool CNC machined from high strength aluminum 7075 for the Tenere 700.   Extremely LIGHTWEIGHT , extremely STRONG , extremely…

I didn't expect the weight difference to be THAT huge:

20240629_103430.jpg.d5d50c6caca88b2d01d9fd5e72ab2137.jpg

 431 grams

20240629_103441.jpg.91fd1b52985087ad90367913f8c90746.jpg

133 grams

And then it saves another 59 grams for the spoke key:20240629_103841.jpg.8fcb13643968a29b8aa2c244fa94e1ee.jpg

That's a whopping 357 grams weight saving, and the tool itself is smaller (front axle hex is shorter), so it better fits into my tool roll.  Justifies the price difference somehow.

Fitted the motoz tractionator gps. They’re getting scrubbed in now. Horrendous to start with. Getting a little better but I suspect the bike won’t handle on the road again until 10,000 miles time when they come off. I suspect they would feel really confidence inspiring on a fast dirt road in aus. We’ll see what they’re like in wales.

I've had similar experience with my Anakee Wilds for about 250km. It took a lot of time getting used to them - perhaps it's more a subjective thing than actual "bad" performance?

Yeah I think we’ve been spoiled by the outstanding road handling of the STRs. Absolute confidence inspiring.

I need that.  The RR one is very heavy.  Reminds me of the Camel anti bobble kit, it works great, but its heavy.

One of these days when my main riding buddy nearly altogether quits riding, which it seems he's on his way, Im going to spend a whole winter re-making my T7 in a 50+ LB lighter version of itself.  Just for fun.  I bet it will feel like a whole different bike.

I ran my MotoZ GPS rear in the Mostly Off Road direction, and like every new tire type I try started out slowly seeing how it handled twisty pavement. It did better than I'd expected, and never had one slip on dry asphalt in very spirited riding the whole time it was on the bike. Hope yours works out as well for you.

Completed my GB-Racing protection:

Didn't have the water pump/pipe covers before, fit is great as expected.

The water pump bolts, in contrast to all other bolts there, aren't stainless. One of them was quite a bit rusty on the inside.

If you want to check them, do it one at a time only, this minimises the risk of coolant leakage. I've spilled a few ml but guess it won't be a problem.

After months of overthinking it, I've finally made a decision on Monday, which resulted in today's delivery:

IMG-20240706-WA0006.jpeg.3d758c19802c95027fee58638e0f114c.jpeg

A new toolset? A folding spade?

Not really:

Carpe Iter Tablet 🙂

Out for mounting now!

Is that a separate road gps or a tablet you choose to download apps to?

The latter, it's an Android rugged tablet with motorcycle specific features. Although its hardware may seem a bit outdated against the latest smartphones (screen resolution), it's far more capable than any Garmin device, can sustain highest brightness all day long and the display is of course bigger.

The best thing on the market is the Tripltek 9, BUT... it's around 1500€ with VAT and comes without a motorcycle mount. This one is almost half the price. I've watched a lot of comparison vids and decided to get this one instead of the slightly newer, but obviously significantly dimmer DMD T865.

So other than the larger screen, what does this do for you that you cannot get with like a garmin Zumo?

It doesn't use that blasted Basecamp planning software! A big plus in my book.

I have given up on using Basecamp and now use GAIA for route planning. It is extremely easy to use, though there are some major limitations that can be overcome with creativity.

With a Zumo XT2 and the Tread app, putting the GPX files on the Garmin is easy.
